New Zealand – a new adventure 

26/6/17 begins a new adventure! I write this more to help my memory than to entertain. 

Our journey was uneventful. We were up before the sun, caught the uber to the airport, checked in easily & had a leisurely airport breakfast 

Our Air New Zealand plane was a little A320 that seemed too small to take us across the sea but we did arrive safely after a flight that was barely long enough to watch “Fantastic Beasts & where to find them”. Flying into Queenstown was absolutely spectacular! 

We’re staying at the Crowne Plaza. Not sure what possessed us to book such luxury but we did & its great. This is the view from our room. 

After talking to the concierge & Info&Snow we have decided to book 2 days skiing at Cardrona (the snow is good, lots of easy runs & there should be less people than at the closer mountains), a day for Graeme to do the Canyon Swing & us to do the shot over, then 1 day skiing at the Remarkables. With that sorted we then needed to pick up lift passes for the Remarkables, and skis-poles-boots & then cart them back to our hotel – luckily an easy walk. 

Next stop was dinner. We were talked into trying BlueKanu, I wasn’t overly impressed but it was ok. Then a wander around the few shops that were still open & the grand finale was finding Patagonia Chocolates for a very indulgent dessert

Finally back to our hotel to get sorted for an early start tomorrow. It’s been many years since either of us skied so wish us luck!
